Establishment of the Association

Based on the need for an administrative body for beekeepers interested in organizing their professional affairs and directing them towards best way to benefit from the resources available for them. A group of beekeepers was established in Al-Baha, where a large portion of the Saudi society relies on beekeeping and its products and considers it as a primary or additional source of income. It is estimated that the number of beekeepers in the Kingdom is increasing. In addition to the large number of honey traders who trade in locally produced honey and imported honey, where the amount imported is approaching ten thousand tons annually.

As a result of the overcrowding of many beekeepers on the limited pasture, as well as problems facing the beekeepers, concerning difficulties when transferring their bees, in addition to spread of many non-specialists honey trader and inability of beekeepers to market non-honey products as a result of reduced quantities produced; thus cooperative work for beekeepers ought to start to join efforts to solve these problems and tasks are distributed among them to contribute to facilitate profession of apiculture; to contribute to raise reputation of Saudi honey in the Kingdom.

Beekeepers Cooperative Association was established in Al-Baha region in the as the first beekeepers cooperative association in the Kingdom on 2/2/1429H, in the presence of many beekeepers from different regions of the Kingdom under supervision of Ministry of Social Affairs and Ministry of Agriculture and registered in Ministry of Social Affairs with registration number (7111570210), Its main headquarter is in Al-Baha region as its considered as a middle position for a group of bees areas in the Kingdom. It has continued to serve a large number of beekeepers in the Kingdom to the present time. The number of its members reached 107 members. The Association has many projects implemented either mainly supported or implemented by partnership relation and these will be addressed separately for each project. BCA has found popularity of many governmental bodies and private sectors, which enabled it to achieve all the desired aspirations and to move forward achieving its objectives and bright outlook for tomorrow. The Association is fully prepared to open and supervise branches in different regions of the Kingdom in case that there are fifty (50) beekeepers that have the desire to open a branch and have the readiness to serve and manage the branch.
